Wrapping Up the Regular Season

The final weekend of play for the 2011-2012 GMHL regular seasons saw your Bradford Rattlers finish with a record of 31-6-5, good for 3rd place. The top three teams in the GMHL earns byes past the first round of the playoffs, meaning Bradford will have the next 7 days off as the Lefroy Wave and Shelburne Red Wings duel it out. The Rattlers will take on the victor of these two teams.
However, wrapping up what was a successful regular season, Bradford played 3 games this weekend, winning all three matches. With victories over Algoma, Elliot Lake and Shelburne, Bradford is entering playoffs on a 5 game win streak.
With games on Friday and Saturday, Bradford spent the first portion of the weekend on a northern road trip to face Algoma and Elliot Lake. On the Friday, Bradford was victors over the Algoma Avalanche by a score of 7-4. In a game which had seven different goal scorers, Bradford was able to defeat Algoma through their depth of talented players. The next night in Elliot Lake was a much tougher test. Bradford was able to walk away with the two points, but were heavily outshot 56-31. Sutherland earned the victory in the Elliot Lake game and was named first star of the night.
Bradford returned home for their final game of the season against the Shelburne Red Wings on Sunday. Bradford finished their season on a high note handing the much improved Red Wings a 6-3 loss. Andreas Norrby had a four point night in the victory.
