UP BY TWO IN SEMI-FINALS
(Bradford, ON; March 13, 2013)
Sean Werth

The Bradford Rattlers have taken an 2-0 advantage over the Orangeville Americans in semi-final action. The semi-finals is a best of four series, meaning the Rattlers are just two wins away from making their third Russell Cup Finals appearance. The Rattlers have never lost in the final series of the Russell Cup, having won twice in 2007 and 2008.

The first game in Bradford saw the Rattlers take it 7-1. Despite the upset score, Orangeville had the game tied through the mid-way point in the second. Americans' goaltender Mark Andrews kept them in the game as long as he good, but three goals from Marcus Bergman was too much for them to handle. Other goal scorers in game #1 included: Gustafsson, Gurfeldt, Knap and Conor Smith.

Game two took place in Orangeville last Monday, where Bradford dominated to a 7-0 victory. Metz recorded the shutout in goal and Bergman had his second hat-trick in as many games. Illes Gallo put up a big five point performance, with two goals and three assists.

After starting the first round at a league-leading pace, Sebastian Forslund has slowed down, not scoring in either game in the second round. Gallo now takes the lead in team point-getting with 26 points in eight games.

Up North, Temiscaming is leading the Bracebridge Phantoms 2 games to 1.

For those with the patience to still be tracking, the undefeated win streak is now at 52 games.

Bradford's next game is at home Friday evening. Puck drop will be 7:30 at the BWG. The game will be streamed live over www.livestream.com. Link at the top of the webpage.
