TIMOFEYEV SIGNS PRO CONTRACT

(Bradford, ON, July 25, 2017)

Last season's Captain Stepan Timofeyev has signed a professional contract with the Cornwall Nationals of the Federal Hockey League. Timofeyev, 22, had an outstanding season with the Rattlers posting 107 points and being awarded the North's MVP Award.

The Timofeyev signing was confirmed by the Nationals on the league's official website.

Stepan hails from St. Petersburgh, Russia and will go down as one of the top players in history to dawn a Rattlers uniform. His 107 points (38g, 69a) season was in just 37 games. His injury plagued season could have seen a even higher point total for the GMHL's North MVP.

His accomplishments since joining the GMHL are absolutely incredible:
- 2016/17 GMHL North MVP
- 2016/17 GMHL Top Forward Runner-up
- 2016/17 All-Star Game Selection
- 2016/17 All-Star Game Player of the Game
- 2016/17 GMHL Most Heart Nominee
- 2016/17 Bradford Rattlers MVP
- 2016/17 Bradford Rattlers Captain
- 2015/16 Russell Cup Playoff Champion
- 2015/16 GMHL Playoff MVP
- 2015/16 GMHL Playoff Scoring Title

Timofeyev brings a unique brand of offensive skill and grit to the National's roster next season. Despite his small size, Timofeyev's incredible work ethic separates him from others.

Newly hired Assistant Coach Brandon Billie played a key role landing Timofeyev the contract with Cornwall.

Stepan had options to pursue CIS or pro hockey next season and is happy to join the Nationals next season. See some clips from Stepan's season here:
