NICOLAS THOMMEN SIGNS LAURENTIAN UNIVERSITY
(Bradford, ON; June 01, 2013)

Bradford Rattlers veteran and top defenseman Nicolas Thommen has committed to play with the Laurentian Voyageurs in the CIS for the 2013-14 season.
Thommen has spent the last three seasons on the Bradford blue-line. Most noticeable due to his 6'6", 225lbs frame, Thommen has been a steady rock for Bradford every season. Over the course of three seasons, Thommen has developed a reputation as one of the GMHL's premier talents.
Nicolas initially came to Bradford in 2010 from his home-country Switzerland. Thommen was signed from Swiss professional leagues by GM Johan Lundskog.
Thommen has been attracting interest from every level of the game since coming to North America. However, struggling through injuries for the better part of three seasons, Nicolas has had a difficult time putting together a complete season of training.
Last off-season, teams from all levels were following Thommen's training. While at the Rattlers' summer training, three NHL teams made appearances to scout the Swiss giant. Thommen began last season in the ECHL with the Fort Wayne Komets, before being returning to Rattlers for his final year.
Over three seasons, Nicolas amounted 77 GMHL games scoring 51 points (9-42-51).
Thommen will be joining Temiscaming Titan Marc-Alain Begin in the Voyageurs line-up next season.
The Bradford Rattlers organization are very pleased that Thommen has chosen to attend University and continue his hockey career. Best of luck next season Nicolas!
