The Roster Shake Up Continues

Bradford continues to tweak their roster mid-season. The Rattlers have shipped their leading scorer, Sergei Romanov, to the Elliot Lake Bobcats and welcomed the return of Anton Ygnwe to the Rattler’s line up.
In the GMHL, teams have a roster restriction of three 21 year olds. Two of the 21 year olds must have been in the GMHL last season, while one may be a free agent. Both Romanov and Yngwe are aged 21, meaning this transaction allows Bradford to have the roster space to welcome back defenseman Anton Ynwge.
Anton Yngwe was a late addition to the Rattler line up last season. Anton was playing professional hockey in Sweden before joining the Rattler’s for their playoff run. Yngwe is a Swedish defenseman and is built a solid 6’3” and 220lbs. He scored 11 points (4g, 7a) in only 15 games last season.
Earlier this month, Yngwe had signed a professional contract with Osby IK, of the Swedish Division 2 league. Yngwe will be landing in Toronto at 3:00pm today (Nov. 18) and will be making his season debut on Sunday against Deseronto.
“The recent additions of Sutherland and Ygnwe have solidified our back end,” head coach Johan Lundskog said, “(this) is a huge step in the right direction for our club.” Bradford continues to find the perfect balance between defense and offence. These transactions join a growing list of mid-season shake ups. Over the past week, Bradford has also signed Sutherland and Haga.
Romanov, 21, was in his final year of junior, spending three seasons with the Rattlers. The Russian forward had scored 27 points (8g, 19a) in just 9 games this season. Bradford’s leading goal scorer will add a natural scoring presence to the Bobcat’s line-up. The Bradford Rattler’s organization would like to thank Sergei for his three years of service to the Rattler’s program, as well as wish him the best of luck in Elliot Lake.
