Despite winning the first 21 games of their season, the Bradford Rattlers have been playing at a severe disadvantage. They have not been able to ice their best line-up for some-time due to injuries. Three of Bradford’s expected top-line players suffered injuries near the start of the season; Oliver Gustafsson, Schuyler Mota and Marcus Bergman. The Rattlers are pleased to confirm that all three players have made 100% recovers and will dress for games on the weekend and GMHL College Showcae Classic next week.
Gustafsson was signed out of the World Hockey Centre’s training camp this summer. He came to Bradford expected to replace some of the graduating talent as a top d-man. However, after just seven games, Oliver suffered an injury that has kept him out of the line-up since September. Oliver’s older brother suited up for the Philidelphia Flyers in the NHL last season. Oliver is a highly touted NCAA prospect for next season; Bradford hopes he will still be able to impress given a shortened season.
After training camp, the Rattlers signed Schuyler Mota from the Norht York Rangers OJHL. Mota scored 16g, 19a for 35 points in 40 games in the OJHL and was expected to match that production with Bradford this season. After starting the season strong with 6 points in his first 4 games, Mota suffered an injury has kept him out of the line-up until now.
Finally, Marcus Bergman will be in the line-up for this weekend. Bergman left a professional contract in Austria to play for the Rattlers for this season. Last year, Bergman scored 54 points in 18 games in Austria’s top U20 junior league. Coming into this season, Bergman was a potential first-line forward for Bradford. In the five games he did mange to get into this season, he has scored four goals and one assist.
All three of these players will be key components of Bradford ‘s line-up for this years play-off run.
