RATTLERS OPEN SEASON WITH TWO WINS

The 2012-13 campaign is well underway for the Bradford Rattlers. The 7th season in the GMHL promises to be a good one with the team looking the strongest it ever has. Bradford took to the road to kick off the season.

First up was expansion club the Bracebridge Phantoms. Jonathan LoParco  got the start for the Rattlers and Joe Jermain for the Phantoms. The game was scoreless right down to the final second of the game where returning Swede Andreas Norrby netted the only goal of the game. Norrby scored the goal with 0.9 seconds remaining in the 3rd period for a 1-0 victory to open the season. LoParco earned his first shutout in the GMHL in his first start.

Next up was the Shelburne Red Wings at home. The Rattlers stomped the Wings for a final score of 8-2 in the home opener. Rookie Sebastian Forslund put together three goals for a hat trick and Andreas Gurfeldt took first star of the game with six assists. Also scoring was Nicolas Thommen, 2 Marcus Bergman (1st GMHL goal), Andreas Norrby and Conor Smith. Metz earned the victory in goal.

The Rattlers will look to stay undefeated next Sunday when they take on first year club Bradford Bulls. The cross town rival will come to the BWG for a 7:30 puck drop on September 16th.
