Rattlers Trade for D'Avolio, Ribbenstedt, Scherer, and Sign Four
(Bradford, ON) Three trades involving the Bradford Rattlers took place at Harbour View Golf and Country Club at the annual GMHL Scheduling meeting.
The Bradford Rattlers acquired the rights to 1991 born forward Nick D'Avolio from the Sturgeon Falls Lumberjacks in return for cash. Nick spent last season with the Chicago Steel of the USHL. During the 2009-2010 season with the Oro-Medonte 77's (GMHL); D'Avolio led his team in scoring with 48 points (21g, 27a) in 41 contests.
In the second transaction of the evening, Bradford acquired 1993 born goaltender Pontus Ribbenstedt from Algoma Avalanche for players to be named at a later date. Last season the swedish goaltender was Algoma's starting goalie, playing in 23 games.
The third trade of the day sent the player rights of Craig Tomassi to the Elliot Lake Bobcats in return for 1991 born defense man Matt Scherer. Matt led the Oro-Medonte blue line in points, recording 32 points (9g, 23a) in 39 games last season.
In addition, Bradford has officially signed 3 more players from free agency. Tim Philley (USA), Conor Smith (China), and Alexander Jonsson (Sweden) have signed one year contracts with the Rattlers. Nicolas Thommen (Switzerland) has also re-signed with the team. All these players are currently training at the World Hockey Centre, where the Rattlers are hosting thier training camp.
