FOUR WINS IN A ROW
(Bradford, ON; September 19th, 2012)

The Bradford cross town rivals wrapped up a home and home series this weekend, which saw the Rattlers defeat the Bulls in both games. The first game at the Rattlers’ home rink BWG was a 6-2 victory followed by a 7-4 victory at the Bulls inaugural home opener.

The first game took place at home on Sunday. Johnathan Loparco had his second GMHL start following a debut shutout against the Bulls’ Donny Oldreive. The match was a penalty filled affair which saw the Rattlers come out on top. Andreas Gurfeldt had a big game scoring one goal and three assists and Conor Smith notched two of his own to lead the Rattlers to the 6-2 victory.

The Rattlers completed the home and home at their former home and new Bulls’ home rink at Bob Fallis Sportscentre. The Bulls put up a much stronger battle, but ultimately lost to the powerhouse Rattlers 7-4. Of note, goaltender Daniel Ahre received his first start in net on Canadian soil, only giving up four goals. Conor Smith played another key role in the victory with two goals but Swede Sebastian Forslund was the star of the game with a four assist performance. Also scoring included: V. Virtanen, Bergman, Norrby, Scott, and Captain Myles Nueneker put in his first of the campaign. Illes Gallo made his debut in a Rattlers uniform.

With the two victories, the streak now stands at four games. The Rattlers have yet to lose a game yet this season. The great start can be attributed to exceptional games from Gurfeldt (1g, 10a), Smith (5g, 5a), and Forslund (4g, 5a) who have respectively scored those points in just four games.

Bradford will try to keep the streak alive when they take on the South Muskoka Shield in their own barn and the Temiscaming Titans at home. The Titans will be at the BWG next Sunday, September 23 for a 7:30pm puck drop. Come out and support your Bradford Rattlers!
