RATTLERS SITTING IN FIRST PLACE
(Bradford, ON, Sept 19, 2016)

The Bradford Rattlers are sitting first place in the 27 team Greater Metro Junior 'A' Hockey League. Six games into the 2016-17 season, the Rattlers are 5-1-0 after the most recent victory of the South Muskoka Shield.

The South Muskoka Shield are the oldest rival of the Rattlers, dating back to 2006 as original 7 members of the GMHL.

It was a character building game for the boys in green. After falling behind 4-0 in the first period, the Rattlers rallied to come from behind and take the game 8-6 final.

The line of Rasmus Brunnberg, Cam Walker and Muhamed Kucukyildiz dominated in the victory. Walker lead the club with a four point night (1g, 3a), while Kucukyildiz had three points (2g, 1a) and Brunnberg played a key role, finding the score sheet with an assist.

The duo of Stepan Timofeyev and Nicholas Lang continued to impress with Lang gathering three points (2g, 1a) and Timofeyev getting two (2g, 0a). Timofeyev and Lang sit 3rd and 4th in league wide scoring respectively.

General Manager Sean Werth credits the club's depth up front as the reason for the early success: "Bradford has not had this much scoring power in years. Any of our top three lines can dominate a game. Our depth is our strength this season and it is showing through the early going." Werth continued to say the team is looking at bringing in a few defencemen to improve the back end.

Through six games, the Rattlers are averaging over eight goals per game.

The Rattlers have two away games this week, facing the Bulls and Temiscaming before returning home on Sunday, September 25th to take on the New Tec Civics at the BWG Leisure Centre.
