RATTLERS TAKE OVER FIRST IN CENTRAL
(Bradford, ON, October 20, 2015)
The Bradford Rattlers took down the South Muskoka Shield in a tight 4-3 game Sunday evening at the BWG Leisure Centre. With the victory, the Rattlers improve to a 8-1-1 record to sit first place in the GMHL's Central Division.
Goaltender Bradley Hampton picked up his third win on the season, making 33 saves between the pipes and being named the first star of the game. Hampton, 18, has been a pleasant surprise for the Rattlers this season. Brad was recruited from the Thunder Bay North Stars AAA program late in the off-season, one of the most prestigious programs in the Northern loop. As a rookie goaltender, he has managed to adjust to the level of play quickly and play well for the Rattlers.
Up front, veteran forward Stephen Eccles had break out game with three points (2g, 1a). After a slow start to the year, Stephen is back to top form where he ended last season. Through 8 games, he has 9 points with 4 goals and 5 assists. The 18 year old hails from Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Also scoring in the match included Jon Pashagumeskum and Dan Shea.
The Rattlers' schedule does not get any easier through the rest of October. The club faces off against Tottenham next Sunday at home. Tottenham is another top team in the Central Division that is competing with the Rattlers for the divisional lead.
RATTNATION NOTES:
Star defender Marcus Hedberg has returned to the lineup after missing a week with a knee injury. The first line of #91 Rasmus Brunnberg, #11 Gustav Larsson and #23 Devon Fullum are 1-2-3 in Rattlers scoring with a combined 52 points in 9 games. The first line of the Rattlers is quickly garnering a reputation as one of the most dangerous lines in the entire GMHL.
