Three Point Weekend; Bradford Climbs to Third
(Bradford, ON; February 6th, 2012)
By: Sean Werth

The Bradford Rattlers played a pair of games this weekend; defeating the Deseronto Storm on Friday and falling to the Lefroy Wave in shootout on Sunday. With the three points, Bradford improves their record to 26-5-5, good for third place in the GMHL.

Bradford received balanced scoring from all lines in a 9-5 victory over the Deseronto Storm. The quirky match began as a slug fest, with 8 goals being scored in the first period alone, before simmering down to a defensive game when just one goal was scored in the third. Rob Sutherland played the full 60 minutes to land his 10th victory of the season. Jonsson, Neuneker and Salmon each notched three point in the contest.

After a total offence game on Friday to a defense-first game on Sunday, the Bradford Rattlers unfortunately fell in 3-2 in a shootout to the Lefroy Wave. The visiting club’s goalie Terry Hughes stood on his head, stopping 48 of the shots that the Rattlers threw at him.  Travis White and Anton Yngwe scored goals for the Rattlers in the shootout loss.

Bradford has 6 games remaining and are currently 7 points behind the second place Sturgeon Falls Lumberjacks for 2nd place in the GMHL. However, Bradford is currently battling with Elliot Lake for the third spot. The top three teams in the regular season standings receive a ‘bye’ past through the first round of the playoffs. Come on out and see the conclusion to Bradford’s regular season in their second to last home game against the Bobcaygeon Bucks. Puck drop will be Sunday, February 12th at 7:30pm at Bob Fallis Sports Centre.
