By: Sean Werth

Last Saturday, the Bradford Rattlers made the trip down to Bobcaygeon to take on the Bucks. Led by Nicholas Baldassarra and Jonatan Nilsson, the Rattlers downed the Bucks 7-1. Now 19-1-1, Bradford holds third place in the GMHL with 39 points. This game marked the debut for Nicholas Baldassarra, Joseph Gatti and Luc Ricci. All three players were signed earlier in the week from the Vaughan Stars.

After a close first period Bradford held a 2-1 lead over Bobcaygeon. However, the Rattlers took over in the second and never looked back. Bradford was able to add 5 unanswered goals on-route to their 7-1 victory. Despite the large margin of victory, the Bucks actually outshot the Rattlers 42-38.  Goal scorers for Bradford included: Baldassarra (2), Maillard (2), Jonsson, Nilsson, and Gatti.

Rob Sutherland made his third start in goal for Bradford. Sutherland made 41 saves and was named first star of the game. Jonatan Nilsson enjoyed a career night; recording a season high 4 points.

Nicholas Baldassarra could not have asked for a better debut with the Rattlers. On the starting line, in his first game, Baldassarra scored just 11 seconds into his Rattler career. He claimed third star of the game honours while adding another goal and assist. Joseph Gatti also impressed in his debut. The Canadian forward was able to notch a goal in the third period in his first game as a Rattler.

In an exhibition game against the Orangeville American's this Sunday, Bradford beat the nearly all-American squad. The final score was 3-2.

The revamped Rattler squad will continue their drive for the Russell Cup next weekend. In their only game of the weekend, Bradford will be playing host to the Deseronto Storm. In their meeting earlier this season, Bradford was victorious over Deseronto by a score of 7-4. In 19 lifetime head-to-head matches, Bradford has a 15-4-0 record. The game will take place at Bob Fallis Sports Centre, puck drop 7:30pm.
