After finishing in third place in the South division of the Greater Metro Hockey League during the 2017 – 2018 regular season and losing in the South Division championship in the post season to the St. George Ravens, the Niagara Whalers started to prepare for the 2018 – 2019 season with fifteen selections on May 13th in Gilford, Ontario in the 2018 Greater Metro Hockey League Draft.
