SHOOTOUT LOSS TO RATTLERS
Alliston, Ontario
November 1, 2013
The Alliston Coyotes played host to the defending Russell Cup Champion Bradford Rattlers yesterday evening. Alliston gave them all they could handle, but fell in a shootout 4-3 to the Rattlers. Alliston is sitting at 7-7-0 on the season.
Coyotes goaltender Bruno Novotny played absolutely outstanding, keeping the team in the game until the very end. He turned away 61 shots and was named the game's first star.
Alliston opened the game with two goals in the first period from Captain Chris Brown and Derek Van Ness. Jacob Vander Zaag added a third goal in the second to put Alliston up 3-0. However, the Rattlers managed to put three unanswered past Novotny to force the shootout, where the Coyotes evenutally lost.
This has been back-to-back games where the Coyotes competed with the league's powerhouse franchises. They gave Temiscaming a very tough game last week.
Looking forward, the schedule doesn't get any easier. The Coyotes will be in Seguin to play the third place Huskies on Sunday (Nov. 3). The Coyotes return home next Thursday (Nov. 7) to play the Toronto Blue Ice Jets. Puck drop is 7:30PM at the New Tecumseth Rec. Centre.
