The Alliston will be taking on the Orangeville in the first round of the 2013/14 Russell Cup Playoffs.
Orangeville finished the season in eight while Alliston finished in seventh. The Coyotes record was 30-10-2 compared to the Americans 25-15-2 record.
Head-to-head, these two teams faced off twice during the regular season. Alliston took both matches in close, high scoring games. Respective scores were 8-7 and 6-5 both in favor of Alliston.
Key players on the Alliston squad include: F Chris Brown, F Gordy Bronnel and G Anton Todykov. Brown is a 21 year old junior veteran, having played in the OHL for two seasons prior to coming to the GMHL. Brown is a playmaker finishing fourth in league scoring with 108 points. Gordy Bonnel is the club's sniper, finishing the season with 47 goals and tied for third place in league-wide goal scoring. Alliston's starting goalie Russian import Anton Todykov has been a powerhouse in the league for the past four seasons. He was the league's top goaltender last season and has had a strong season to date.
Orangeville will rely heavily on: D Christian Tyson, F Mike Kurek and F Daniel Hussey. Tyson has been the face of Orangeville for the past three seasons, leading the club every season in point getting. Wrapping up his final junior season, Christian has put up an impressive 77 points in just 36 games. Club Captain Mike Kurek had a career high 71 points himself on the year and has stapled himself as one of the league's top power forwards. Rookie sensation Daniel Hussey will be heavily relied upon for his potent offensive ability. His 69 points in only 26 games has him amongst the league leaders in points-per-game.
