UPSET BY MATTAWA; BOUNCE BACK IN TORONTO
Alliston, Ontario
January 12, 2014
The infamous 14 game win-streak was put to rest this weekend by the most unlikely of foes. Alliston played two games this weekend, dropping one to the Mattawa Voyageurs but bouncing back yesterday and defeating the Toronto Blue Ice Jets.
As mentioned, the Coyotes were upset by the Mattawa Voyageurs on Thursday (Jan 09) on home ice by a final of 5-4. The Coyotes were a step behind as it was their first game back after an extended holiday break. Chris Brown had a three point evening (2g, 1a) while Sedivy and Bonnel each notched singles. Alliston ran into penalty troubles in the game, which lead to the game-winning 5th Mattawa goal being scored in the third period.
The Coyotes were able to shake off the loss and bounce right back yesterday evening in Toronto against the Blue Ice Jets. The Jets are a fellow expansion team that is sitting in the top five. Alliston showed character and determination to take down the Jets 6-4 final.
Alliston has a big three game week upcoming. Wednesday the club travels down highway 10 to Orangeville to take on the Americans. The regular Thursday home-game is against the South Muskoka Shield with a 7:30pm puck drop. The Shield are sitting third place in the GMHL. The week is rounded out on Saturday in Toronto against the Predators.
