Vander Zaag Shines in Weekend Action
Alliston, Ontario
November 10, 2013
The Alliston Coyotes wrapped up their toughest stretch of the season. The Coyotes played four of the top six teams through the past two weeks. Although they only pulled away one victory, each of their losses were within one goal.
This past week Alliston played the Toronto Blue Ice Jets and Powassan Eagles.
Against the Jets, Coyotes goaltender Anton Todykov took the game to shootout but could not pull the victory losing 4-3 OT. Jacob Vander Zaag had two goals in the game and was named third star on the evening. Derek Van Ness had a goal himself.
Yesterday evening (Nov. 9), the Coyotes dominated the Powassan Eagles to a 11-4 victory. Once again, Vander Zaag was the strongest skater on the evening scoring four goals and adding an assist. His counterpart, Derek Van Ness, had six points (1g, 5a) and was named second star. Captain Chris Brown had five points as well (2g, 3a).
Vander Zaag and the rest of the Coyotes have a busy three game week upcoming. First is a home game against the Shelburne Red Wings next Thursday, November 14th. This followed by road games in Mattawa and Meaford on Friday and Sunday respectively.
The Coyotes need all the help they can get, so come on out Thursday and show your support!
