TWO WINS OVER LEAGUE'S BEST

The Alliston Coyotes continue to be the hottest team in the GMHL. Yesterday evening, the Coyotes defeated the South Muskoka Shield 6-4 final. Furthermore, Alliston beat the fifth place Orangeville Americans at home on Thursday.
As mentioned, the fifth place Orangeville Americans were in town yesterday evening where Alliston won 8-7 in overtime. Despite the close score, Alliston dominated most of the night, outshooting the Americans 57-33. Derek Van Ness and Jacob Vander Zaag each had five points (2g, 3a) to be named first and second star of the game. Other scorers for the Coyotes included: Liameshchanka (2) , Brown and Nikitin. Bruno Novotny earned the victory in goal.
The week did not get any easier as the Coyotes hit the road to take on the South Muskoka Shield yesterday. Anton Todykov stoof between the pipes against the second place club and favorite to come out of the Southern Division. Alliston won the game 6-4 on the strength of Captain Chris Brown's five point (3g, 2a) night. Gordy Bonnel had two goals and Vander Zaag added a single. Todykov made 35 saves and was named second star of the game.
The Coyotes are riding the longest win-streak in the GMHL with 12 wins in a row. They are quickly rising in the standings, witting in seventh place with a record of 19-8-2.
Next up for the Coyotes is the GMHL College Showcase Classic taking place next Tuesday and Wednesday. This is a league hosted event which the top clubs play in showcase style games. The league invites scouts and recruiters from the NCAA, CIS, Major Junior and Professional ranks and give the GMHL's top players the opportunity to skate in front of scouts.
